A Dozen Diabetes Dads Do London to Paris – Fundraising for JDRF
On May 24th 2018, 12 men with varying levels of fitness and varying quality of bike set out from the JDRF offices in London to cycle to Paris. We have been brought together on this mission by our kids, all of whom live with Type 1 Diabetes. We are the Diabetes dads!
Why JDRF? Because they fund type 1 diabetes research to improve lives & one day eradicate the condition for good. Your support will help do that, so that withing the lifetimes of our kids, there will be a cure. Imagine that, no more finger prick test, no more injection, no more canulas, no more sensor inserts. Our kids have upwards of 2500 needles in their bodies each and every year, and will until there’s a cure. Your donation, however large or small, will be very gratefully received.

Dan Cook is running the Brighton Marathon for Diabetes UK because one marathon just isn’t enough apparently!
It has been an interesting time for my family of late and many a worthy cause has lent a hand to us. However, my nephew was recently diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes so I have decided to raise some money for Diabetes UK.

Phoebe Maddison sings I Am the Hero
A song, written for little (and not so little) heroes with Type 1 diabetes, has been released to raise money for JDRF. With lyrics by Steve Paxton it’s sung by star of ITV’s The Voice: Kids, Phoebe Maddison, who also has Type 1. It inspires children with Type 1 diabetes to not let the condition hold them back. You can buy it from https://phoebemaddison.bandcamp.com/track/i-am-the-hero where the minimum cost is £2 (plus 40p VAT).

The Pendsey Trust
The Pendsey Trust is a UK registered charity no 115800 which was established in 2013 and aims to provide access to medical care and education for those affected by diabetes in developing countries.
The Pendsey Trust works with children and young people with diabetes in the developing world. Through their programme of sponsorship and grants, they provide medical care and education to children and young people in developing countries, supporting them to eventually be self sufficient.
They have well over 70 sponsors signed up, however the waiting list of children at the clinic keeps on growing.
For the price of a coffee a week, or £16 month, you could change the life of young people forever by providing the gift of insulin. You can write to your sponsor child, send gifts and even visit.
