Type 1 Diabetes Support

Type 1 Diabetes Support

We need support to kick start the set up of a non profit / charitable organisation to provide immediate practical support and emotional reassurance for newly diagnosed children with Type 1 diabetes and then secondly provide appropriate ongoing financial support, as required, to help minimise daily impact and reward these amazing children and families

Shock: 85% of the time a Type 1 diagnosis is a total shock out of the blue.

Steep learning curve: Parents / carers need to become experts in managing the condition overnight.

Nothing exists: to provide immediate practical help & emotional reassurance.

Unfair: A child diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes will have approx. 65,000 insulin injections (with every meal) and need to test blood glucose 80,000 times over their lifetime and so need to be encouraged in their resilience with enduring this burden from a young age.

The organisation will aim to support newly diagnosed children in the UK by:

Providing useful kit (non medical) to help manage Type 1 Diabetes and Reassure with immediate emotional support. Flowers, balloons and reassuring stories.

Support ongoing: this may be paying for glucose monitoring technology or Type 1 qualified baby sitters.

Reward: children and families with family holidays, family meals, days out, game consoles etc tbc

To make this possible we need donations and so if you can provide any donations we would be incredibly grateful.

If you can help with any type of support please contact us via the form below. Thank you.
